There are moments and events you miss simply because you feel insecure about what you have to say. You may think that no one will want to hear your thoughts, and that perhaps you will be a burden rather than someone who might have something interesting to say. I have been rather shy my entire life, and combating shyness has been something that has lead to some of the most interesting moments in my life. The first shot is always the most painful, but the rewards are endless.

A few years ago I was confronted with the presence of my favorite singer. He was right there, and he knew me because I had recently attended a few of his shows. He was on his way into the hotel bar when he stopped to say hello and called me by name. The friend that was with me was not shy and she said she wanted to go into the bar to say hello to everyone. It took a lot for me, but I took a chance in combatting shyness and walk into that bar with her. When I went in, he saw me and smiled, and waited for me to come over to talk to him. Granted, there aren’t many performers like him, but I thank God that my friend pushed me into combatting shyness because I ended up having an amazing few hours with him, and it’s a memory I will never forget.

Combating shyness is not easy, and it often comes down to a once in a lifetime opportunity, like the one I had. I knew in my mind that I would be shaking when I went in to talk to him, but I also knew that this moment might never come again. He is such a nice person though, and even though I knew that, it didn’t make combating shyness any easier. I had to do it though, and I think perhaps he even knew it, and that is why he was so sweet and attentive to me.

If you have problems combating shyness, you have to remind yourself of what you are missing. You have to see your fears through to the end and decide if it is really as bad as you are imagining it to be. Run the scene through in your mind to the worst possible ending, and you might see that it’s not a matter of life and death. The worst that can happen often does not happen, though when combating shyness you may not see it. Give yourself a chance, and be positive. That can go a long way towards becoming a more outgoing and fun loving person.

ex9h7nss82

Should You Visit An Anxiety Support Group?

Should You Visit An Anxiety Support Group?

Has it ever occurred to you how folk deal with anxiety and stress in different ways? This can be seen in places of work where a variety of people meet. A few folks will tackle stress by over indulging, others do not eat anything. Many cannot sleep whilst many more become sick. Once the stress is removed then all these symptoms often disappear.
There are those, who without trying, can conjure up stress. When stress is at such a level people should realize that they are suffering from an anxiety disorder.

People should recognize that if their life is full of constant worry and stress they might be suffering from an anxiety disorder. There are various possibilities for individuals that experience this disorder. One piece of advice which might be helpful for some individuals would be to make a bee-line for one of the many anxiety support groups. Attending groups enables a person to conquer their fears, simply for the reason, that they have made that first step by themselves. The anticipation of attending an anxiety support group could, in itself, be a nerve racking experience, especially the first time.

Anxiety can manifest itself in many ways. In some bigger communities the support centers can concentrate on the separate areas of anxiety, allowing experts to zoom in on the patients individual needs. There are both advantages and disadvantages in this. The main benefit is that it is useful for the person, to be assured, that it is just not themselves who get upset over similar happenings. The disadvantage is, that if one or two attending members at the stress clinic are not trying to change, they can have negative effects on each other. With all groups it is imperative to have an overseer able to guide the treatment onwards and to discourage enrollees who take the class in a wrong direction.

The help that people receive in the anxiety support groups can greatly enhance their lives, since they are not too scared to try new and different things. There are many good anti-anxiety medications that are obtainable through prescriptions. Such anti-anxiety medications are often used in conjunction with therapy. When the patient is more confident in handling life situations, their medications can be reduced and then, hopefully discontinued. For people with severe anxiety problems; they may be required to continue on the medication for a lengthy period, to enable them to function normally in society.

Should You Visit An Anxiety Support Group?

Overcoming Shyness and Building Self Confidence

Overcoming Shyness and Building Self Confidence

There are several steps that are required in overcoming shyness and building self confidence, some of which require a great deal of courage. Easier said than done you might say, particularly if you are a shy person. The thought for instance of standing on a stage, in front of an audience, in order to deliver a speech would seem to some to be the most terrifying thing imaginable. However give that same person a liberal helping of "Dutch Courage" and a remarkable transformation occurs. Not only does he or she lose the inhibition to speak but are very likely to go into verbal overload with unintelligable gibberish with embarrassing consequences. One way of overcoming shyness, for sure, but in no way helpful for building self confidence, especially come the next morning. So, not a recommended step to take. However if certain simple steps were taken, the easy ones first, this happy state could be reached without requiring the stiff drink or three.

A person suffering from a lack of self confidence will often display certain characteristics like walking in a manner that suggests he or she would prefer to be invisible, wearing a worried expression, averting their eyes and avoiding people. In a packed audience this person will be found sitting at the back, nervous that he or she will become the centre of attention.

Overcoming shyness and building self confidence is a journey that can be started with small steps. Shyness is learnt trait, probably stemming from childhood. By taking small simple steps one can unlearn shyness and make for a more fulfilling life. For instance why not start by walking with an upright posture with measured confident steps; add a smile engage people with your eyes and before long people will begin to acknowledge you, will want to know you. Before long, you will feel confident enough to take the next step without the fear that had always dogged you before. Next time you attend an event, sit in the front row, join the winners.

A shy person can be compared with a person who cannot swim; scared of water in case they might sink. Once taught the swimmer will find it very difficult to sink. Likewise, the irrational fear that the shy person once experienced will be difficult to recall as they complete the journey to overcoming shyness and building confidence.

Commence this journey, as I did.

Simple First Steps in Combating Shyness

Do certain social situations make you feel uneasy? Do you feel butterflies in the stomach due to shyness?
Does the thought of approaching a stranger or making a short speech fill you with trepidation?

Do not be unduly concerned; you are one of many whose shyness severely handicaps many facets of their lives. Having accepted this fact, it doesn't mean that you are condemned to suffer this affliction for ever. Confidence can be grown in small steps and shyness conquered by adopting certain techniques.

One of the best ways to overcome your fear interacting with other people is to first of all appreciate the fact that all people experience in one form or another certain fears and phobias which undermines their confidence in some situations. Those that exhibit confidence, themselves undoubtably suffer negetive thoughts on occasions either to their appearance or
presentation.

There is a common denominator that connects all humanbeings.
The desire to be loved and respected.
The need for friendship and human contact.
Once these factors are understood an inportant first step has been taken.
Why not take the second step and strike up a conversation with someone who is recognised to be as shy as yourself? By so doing your self confidence will increase by leaps and bounds.

Picture this scenerio, some of you have probably experienced this before. You arrive for a conference, interview or suchlike, feeling a little apprehensive. Many people are there for the same reason. You are all assembled in the same room, all strangers to each other. There is little conversation, but wait; who is that individual in the corner, seemingly making notes and looking very efficient and prepared. How do you feel? How do others feel? What is the person writing about? Should I have prepared myself better? Your self confidence takes a hit, your anxiety level increases and if you suffered from shyness before, what now?

For all you know the person who looks to be total control may well adopt this facade in order to shield his own shyness. So think about that. It takes a little practice to control your shyness and anxiety.
Shielding it is the way to go.
